Gynecology examination
We refer to gynecology examination to as bimanual examination. During this examination gynecologist acces the internal genital female organs – vagina, uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries. Often, as the part of the examination gynecologist takes the swabs from the cervix, for the bacteriological and viral analyses, as well as the analyses for the fungus.
These analyses can show the infections that can later lead to some serious conditions and infertility.
Colposcopy
Colposcopy examination should be performed once a year, starting from the age of 18th, or from starting having sexual intercourses. During this examination, gynecologist examines the cervix, vagina and vulva under the systems of the various enlargement lenses under the light.
Colposcopy is very simple and painless procedure, and it is divided into the three phases: in the phase, physician is assessing the cervix, which is followed by the coating with 3% acetic acid in the second phase, and in the third phase is coating with Lughole’s solution. Colposcopy and cytology (Papanicolau test) are considered as being the primary screening and together in 99% of the cases they can detect pre-cancerous conditions and cervical cancer.
Sometimes it is necessary for obtaining the most accurate diagnose to fulfill this examination with the cervical biopsy or fractional curettage. The material gained during these procedures is send to histological examination.
Papa test
Cytological Papanicolau examination is the microscopically examination of the cells that are collected on the swabs from inside and outside of cervix. This examination detects pre-malignant and malignant changes and it is very important to perform this examination once a year.
Papanicolau qualification has five groups and these are:
- I and II group are normal cells
- III group are abnormal cells
- IV group are small number of malignant cells
- V group are numerous malignant cells
The contraception
The gynecologist should be consulted on the issues and the ways of contraception, because only on that way woman can get the
recommendation that is based upon her medical condition. The choice of contraception depends on many factors, and the decision is based upon medical history, the age, the patient wishes etc. the most used contraception method is hormonal pills.
Today, there are numerous pills, but no one should starts with them without consulting the doctor. If you want to start with the contraceptives, apart from regular analyses you should do blood tests and breast ultrasound. If all results are good one may start using the contraceptive pills.
